Urbanization

An intense gaze sometimes directed at the viewer, sometime cast down as in a meditative state. Young women feature prominently in Shijiree´s works. They are attractive, but also removed. Collaged in are documents form Mongolia´s heritage, the ceremonial coach of the last Bogd Khaan, or newspaper clippings and postcards from the vast steppes. The gaze therefore opens up to a vast inner experience of Mongolia´s cultural wealth. The inspiration here is taken from the famous „White Tara“, a 17 century sculpture by the eponymous Zanabazar, the quintessential artist and spiritual leader of Mongolia.
